The Aqua Line of Noida Metro is set for a significant 17.4-km expansion from Sector-61 to Knowledge Park V, adding 11 new stations and enhancing connectivity across Noida and Greater Noida West.
According to the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), the project will be implemented in two phases and is set to be submitted to the Public Investment Board (PIB) for approval. Phase 1 will extend the line from Sector-51 to Sector-2, and Phase 2 will connect Greater Noida Sector-2 to Sector-5.
Once completed, the extension is expected to directly benefit over 4 lakh commuters by reducing congestion and improving last-mile connectivity. The project will feature three stations (3.3 km) in Noida and eight stations (14.1 km) in Greater Noida. Sector-61 will serve as a key interchange hub.
The estimated cost of the expansion is ₹2,991 crore, jointly funded by Noida (33%) and Greater Noida (67%), with additional support from GIA and GeoUPs. Daily ridership is projected at 1.23 lakh initially, with the project expected to catalyze residential, commercial, and institutional development in the Noida Extension area.
Pending PIB clearance, construction could begin within three months, with completion targeted within three to four years.
