Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the first phase of the Patna Metro Rail Project on October 6, 2025, unveiling a 3.6-km elevated priority corridor on the Blue Line connecting ISBT (Patliputra) to Bhoothnath station.
Launched with a foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019, the Patna Metro project carries a total estimated cost of ₹13,365 crore. The inaugural run, starting from the Patliputra Bus Depot, was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. Passenger operations begin on October 7, with daily services from 8 AM to 10 PM.
The operational stretch includes three stations: ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhoothnath. Trains will run every 20 minutes, accommodating up to 900 passengers in three-coach trains adorned with Madhubani art motifs, reflecting Bihar’s rich cultural heritage.
This milestone marks a significant advancement in Patna’s urban infrastructure, aiming to enhance connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and provide a modern, efficient transit solution for the city’s growing population.
