Power Play: NHPC's 1.2 GW Auction Sparks Renewable Energy Growth

NHPC has successfully conducted an auction for 1,200 MW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects under Tranche X, with the option for development with or without storage.

Adani Renewable Energy Holding Twelve, a subsidiary of Adani Green Energy, secured the largest allocation of 600 MW at ₹3.41 per kWh. Illuminate Hybren (Mahindra Susten) won 240 MW, and Sprng Vayu Vidyut (Sprng Energy) obtained 150 MW, both at ₹3.41 per kWh, while Avaada Energy secured 210 MW at ₹3.42 per kWh. All four companies have been awarded their full bid capacity.

The auction followed NHPC’s competitive bidding process for these projects, which will be connected to the inter-state transmission system (ISTS).
