Plans are underway to establish a large-scale solar power project in the Rayalaseema region with a total proposed capacity of 5,000 MW.
The Reliance Group intends to develop the project across 95,000 acres in Amadagur, OD Cheruvu, and Nallada districts. In the first phase, the solar park will be set up on 25,000 acres in Amadagur mandal. The project is expected to generate direct employment for around 4,500 people, in addition to creating substantial indirect livelihood opportunities in the region.
Puttaparthi MLA Palle Raghunath Reddy, who accompanied Reliance representatives during the visit, stated that in the initial phase, the company is prepared to enter into agreements with farmers for land required to produce 5,000 MW of solar power. Under the proposed 30-year agreement, farmers will receive ₹30,000 per acre per year, with a 5 per cent increase every two years, subject to their consent.
The initiative leverages Rayalaseema’s favourable climatic conditions for solar and wind energy generation, which have already attracted significant investments. Reliance also plans to expand the solar project to an additional 70,000 acres in OD Cheruvu and Nallada districts in subsequent phases.
