Hindalco's $200 Crore Boost to Odisha's Textile Industry

Hindalco Industries, the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced a Rs 200 crore investment to establish apparel manufacturing units in Odisha’s Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts.

The announcement was made during the Odisha TEX 2025 event, where two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The MoUs were exchanged between BS Poonia, Principal Secretary of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, and Ardhendu Mahapatra, President (Corporate Affairs) at Hindalco Industries.

Under the agreement, Hindalco will invest Rs 100 crore in each district, with the two projects expected to generate 2,400 direct jobs. “This investment deepens Hindalco’s commitment to Odisha and reflects our focus on creating sustainable employment through continued collaboration with the state government,” the company said in a statement.

Hindalco already operates a textile unit in Mancheswar and is developing another at Kanshariguda near its Aditya alumina refinery in Rayagada, which is projected to employ 3,000 local women.

The MoU signing was also attended by Ministers Sampad Chandra Swain and Pradeep Bal Samant, along with other senior government officials.
