Jewar’s Wings: Noida International Airport Starts Operations

Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, has commenced commercial operations, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure development. The greenfield airport has begun services with IndiGo and Akasa Air operating scheduled flights, making them the first airlines to start operations at the facility.

Located in the National Capital Region (NCR), the airport is positioned to emerge as a key aviation hub complementing Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is designed to accommodate growing passenger demand in northern India while significantly improving air connectivity across western Uttar Pradesh and surrounding regions.

The launch follows extensive planning and phased construction and is expected to play a crucial role in decongesting Delhi airport. It is also anticipated to support regional economic growth by boosting tourism, trade, and industrial development. With the commencement of initial operations, the airport is set to gradually expand its network, paving the way for enhanced domestic and international connectivity in the coming phases.
