Apogee’s ₹500 Crore Splash: Seaplane Manufacturing Lands in India

Following the Union Budget 2026 announcement by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Apogee Aerospace has unveiled plans to invest up to ₹500 crore in seaplane manufacturing in India.

The company also announced a strategic collaboration with Amphibian Aerospace Industries to introduce the Albatross 2.0 amphibious aircraft platform in the country. The proposed investment will be utilised to set up tail-section manufacturing facilities, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) infrastructure, training facilities, and advanced systems integration capabilities.

As part of the partnership, Apogee Aerospace has placed an order for 15 Albatross 2.0 aircraft, with an estimated value of approximately ₹3,500 crore. The companies expect strong demand for the aircraft from India’s defence forces, particularly the Navy and the Coast Guard. The first seaplane delivery is expected within 18 to 24 months.

Commenting on the manufacturing plans, Wing Commander M.V.N. Sai (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of Apogee Aerospace, said, “We have identified one or two highly suitable sites and have clear indicators on where we will establish the tail-section manufacturing facility. The ecosystem and capabilities required to undertake this work are already well established.”
