Apollo Hospitals Invests ₹6,000 Crore to Combat NCDs with 3,500 New Beds

Apollo Hospitals Enterprise has announced a substantial Rs 6,000 crore investment over the next five years to add 3,500 beds, addressing the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions.

The expansion will be carried out in two phases, primarily targeting major urban centers with an emphasis on specialized care in fields like oncology, cardiology, neurosciences, and gastroenterology.

In the first phase, a total of Rs 2,880 crore will be invested by FY26 to introduce 1,737 beds across cities including Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Gurugram. The second phase will focus on adding 1,775 beds in Chennai, Varanasi, Mumbai, and Lucknow over the following three to four years, with an investment of Rs 3,220 crore. While the expansion predominantly targets tier-I cities, Apollo also plans to extend its reach to tier-II cities.

Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing its centers of excellence in areas such as cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, orthopedics, and gastroenterology. She added that the growth will be driven through a mix of asset acquisitions, greenfield projects, and brownfield developments.
