₹700 Crore for Slum Upliftment: Delhi's Mega Development Push

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated newly completed infrastructure projects and reviewed ongoing ones in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency on 08 April 2025. Highlighting the government’s commitment to slum redevelopment, she announced a dedicated allocation of ₹700 crore to the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) for improving living conditions in informal settlements.

The CM inspected various initiatives in water supply, roads, drainage, sanitation, electricity, and urban amenities across different areas, collaborating with officials from agencies such as PWD, DJB, MCD, DDA, IFCD, and Tata Power. She emphasized strict quality control and adherence to timelines for project completion. A major milestone of the visit was the formal handover of newly developed infrastructure in 40 lanes of the Ayurvedic Camp area by DUSIB.

A key initiative aimed at slum residents focuses on providing them with clean, secure housing and upgraded infrastructure. The program includes paved roads, efficient drainage systems, parks for children, girls’ schools, and access to safe drinking water. During her visit to Lane No. 1 in Shalimar village, the CM instructed MCD officials to accelerate necessary repairs, emphasizing that “development must reach every street and neighborhood” to ensure a dignified, comfortable life for all residents.
