The JSW Group and the Government of Assam have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a world-class heritage museum in Guwahati.
Planned at the Sericulture Farm in Khanapara, the museum will span 45,000 sq. ft. on land provided by the Assam Government. It will be fully funded and developed by the JSW Group with the aim of preserving and promoting art, culture, and heritage. The facility will showcase national and international artefacts, cultural exhibitions, and travelling showcases, serving as a platform for global cultural exchange.
The inaugural exhibition will celebrate the Vrindavani Vastra — a 17th-century devotional textile woven under Srimanta Sankardev’s guidance, currently housed at the British Museum. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the collaboration as a milestone initiative in advancing the state’s cultural and artistic landscape.
