BMW Industries Bets Big on Bokaro with ₹803 Crore Steel Facility

BMW Industries has announced plans to establish a new greenfield downstream steel manufacturing facility in Bokaro, Jharkhand, with a total investment of ₹803.47 crore.

Designed to capitalize on the company’s steel processing capabilities and cater to growing domestic demand, the project will be financed through a mix of internal accruals and debt. The proposed plant will have an annual production capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes of cold rolled full hard (CRFH) coils/sheets, 5,40,000 tonnes of galvanised coils/sheets, and 2,00,000 tonnes of colour-coated coils/sheets.

The facility will be built on industrial land already owned by the company and will be commissioned in phases over the next two years. The first unit is expected to begin commercial operations in FY26. Located approximately 300 km from Haldia and Kolkata ports, the site offers strong logistical advantages for both domestic distribution and international exports. Its proximity to raw material sources further enhances supply chain efficiency.

BMW Industries has secured environmental clearance (Consent to Establish) from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board. According to the Board of Directors, this strategic expansion will strengthen the company’s position in the downstream steel sector, broaden its market reach, and generate long-term value for stakeholders.
