Chhattisgarh Gets a 4G Boost: BSNL to Deploy 4,000 New Towers

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will install 4,000 new mobile towers across Naxalite-affected and remote regions of Chhattisgarh to expand 4G connectivity and improve digital access. The announcement was made by Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Telecom and Rural Development, during a three-day visit to the state.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in underdeveloped and security-sensitive areas. The rollout will be carried out in phases, pending necessary clearances from security agencies and the forest department. “BSNL is delivering high-quality 4G services nationwide, and this expansion supports our goal of extending digital connectivity to even the most remote villages,” the Minister stated during a press briefing in Raipur.

Dr. Sekhar also highlighted that services in these regions are being delivered in ‘mission mode’ as part of broader development goals. He noted that schools in these areas are being digitised to help students prepare for competitive exams like JEE and NEET. Special measures are also being introduced to support differently-abled students, promoting inclusive education and access.

During his visit, the Minister chaired a high-level review meeting in Raipur with senior officials from BSNL, the Department of Posts, the Department of Rural Development, and the Department of Telecommunications to evaluate progress under key central government schemes.
