Datasamudra Goes Big: ₹500 Cr for New AI Data Centers

Datasamudra, the data centre arm of Teleindia Datacenter, plans to invest between ₹300 crore and ₹500 crore over the next few years to expand its operations beyond Bengaluru. As part of the expansion, the company will set up a 35–40 MW AI-driven data centre in Mangaluru, along with smaller five MW edge data centres in Mysuru and Hubballi-Dharwad.

The move comes amid growing demand in India for AI-led digital infrastructure and high-power data centre facilities. Datasamudra COO Balaji Rajagopal said the Mangaluru facility is expected to be developed over the next three to four years.

The expansion aligns with Karnataka’s broader strategy to emerge as a hub for data centres and related component manufacturing. Several other companies are also investing in the region, including global data centre firm NTT and Bengaluru-based power electronics company Elmeasure, which plans to invest ₹800–850 crore to manufacture electrical components for data centres. These investments reflect the rapid growth of Karnataka’s digital economy and supporting infrastructure.
