DFCCIL's Dedicated Freight Corridor Reaches Final Milestone

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) marked a significant milestone by successfully completing the final step in connecting Sachin near Surat and Makarpura near Vadodara. This achievement paves the way for the smooth operation of freight trains along this crucial section of the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) network.

The completion of this vital link involved the construction of 50 lakh cubic meters of earthwork, one significant bridge across the Tapi River, 11 major bridges, 64 minor bridges, and two railway flyovers, all at a cost of approximately Rs 900 crore. Additionally, a 27 km stretch between New Gothangam and New Bhestan has been designed as a level crossing-free zone, ensuring seamless freight movement.

The continuity of 242 km of DFC track between Makarpura and Gholvad further enhances the efficiency of freight transportation in this region. With the completion of this project, freight trains will no longer need to utilize the existing busy main line of the Mumbai-Delhi route, significantly reducing congestion and improving overall freight logistics.

This remarkable achievement by DFCCIL stands as a testament to the organization's dedication to developing India's infrastructure and revolutionizing freight transportation across the nation.
