The coalition government has launched a major infrastructure upgrade initiative for Vijayawada and Amaravati, aiming for substantial improvements by 2029.
On 25 November 2025, MP Kesineni Sivanath and MLA Gadde Rammohan laid the foundation stone for a ₹93.08-lakh Five Road project in the East constituency’s 8th Division, which includes constructing a 1,000-metre drain near the Metropolitan area. A detailed project report is also being prepared for a ₹2,000-crore citywide overhaul to modernise stormwater drainage, underground sewage networks, and the drinking water system. Officials say the initiative is designed to prevent flooding, improve water supply in hilly neighbourhoods, and upgrade essential civic infrastructure.
“When this plan is implemented, not a drop of rainwater will stagnate on the roads,” MP Sivanath said. MLA Rammohan added that parallel efforts are underway to renovate all major roads, drains and service lines. Guided by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the government aims to make the city cleaner, more efficient, and future-ready, positioning it as a model for urban transformation.
