Jakson Ltd. emerged as the lowest bidder for Chennai Metro Line-5’s crucial electrical and mechanical (E&M) contract EM-03. This contract, awarded by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL), encompasses a comprehensive scope of system works including fire protection, ventilation, and air-conditioning.
Chennai Metro’s Phase 2 project features the new 44.6 km Line-5, which will traverse north to south, connecting Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur. The EM-03 package specifically focuses on system works at ten elevated stations, six underground stations, and tunnels between Kolathur and Nathamuni, alongside the viaduct between Madhavaram Milk Colony and Grain Market stations.
The underground construction for this section is being handled by Tata Projects under Package UG-06, while Larsen & Toubro oversees the elevated section under Package C5-EV-03. The combined efforts aim to enhance the metro’s connectivity and operational efficiency.
The bidding process for this contract began in August 2023, with technical bids opened in February 2024, revealing five contenders. Jakson Ltd.'s winning bid positions them at the forefront of this significant infrastructure development, slated for completion in 5.2 years.
This achievement underscores Jakson Ltd.'s growing influence in the metro rail sector, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of Chennai’s metro network.
