Maa Tarini Project Kicks Off ₹312 Cr Development.

On 7 December 2025, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for the ₹312-crore integrated development project of the Maa Tarini shrine in Keonjhar.

Announcing a series of major initiatives, the Chief Minister outlined plans to transform Keonjhar into a major industrial, religious, and economic hub, promising to elevate it to a world-class religious and tourist destination within a year. The shrine redevelopment, spread across 60 acres, will feature a 216-bed pilgrim residence, food plaza, market complex, prasad hall, pilgrim centre, watchtower, and several supporting facilities.

Majhi also unveiled an extensive portfolio of projects worth over ₹35,000 crore, including major road upgrades, a mega steel plant, new economic zones, tech and textile parks, a data centre, and other critical infrastructure. These initiatives are aimed at boosting Keonjhar’s industrial growth, connectivity, and tourism potential, positioning the district as a significant driver of Odisha’s economic development.
