Rajnath Singh's 125 BRO Launch: A ₹5,000 Cr. Leap in Border Infra

On 7 December 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 125 strategically critical BRO infrastructure projects from Ladakh — the highest number ever launched in a single event.

Valued at approximately ₹5,000 crore, these projects span Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, and seven other States: Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Mizoram. The package includes 28 roads, 93 bridges, and multiple other vital assets, marking the largest-value project inauguration in BRO’s history.

At the Shyok Tunnel site on the Darbuk–Shyok–Daulat Beg Oldie (DSDBO) Road, Singh highlighted the importance of the 920-metre tunnel, engineered to provide all-weather connectivity in one of the world’s most challenging terrains.

He also inaugurated the Galwan War Memorial, emphasising that robust border infrastructure enhances national security, mobility, logistics, tourism, and employment. Citing the success of Operation Sindoor, the Minister praised the synergy among the armed forces, civil administration and local communities, calling it a “unique strength” of the nation.

Singh further underscored BRO’s humanitarian contributions, adoption of new technologies, and record execution pace, reaffirming the government’s commitment to modernising border infrastructure and promoting self-reliant defence manufacturing.
