Mahindra Group has announced plans to establish its largest integrated manufacturing facility for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, Maharashtra, significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint in the state.
The proposed complex will be developed over 1,500 acres in the Vidarbha region and will be supported by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. Scheduled to become fully operational by 2028, the facility will have an annual production capacity of more than five lakh vehicles and one lakh tractors, making it Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing hub in India.
The automotive plant will produce vehicles across multiple powertrains, including internal combustion engine (ICE) models, electric vehicles (EVs), and future technologies, catering to both domestic and global markets. The tractor unit is expected to further strengthen Mahindra’s leadership in the farm equipment segment, serving rising domestic demand as well as key export markets.
In addition to the Nagpur project, Mahindra said it will acquire land in the Igatpuri–Nashik belt to expand existing product and engine capacities and support the growth of its advanced technology businesses. The group currently operates major manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra at Chakan near Pune and in Nashik.
With these initiatives, Mahindra plans to invest a total of ₹15,000 crore in Maharashtra over the next 10 years and will acquire more than 2,000 acres across three locations to reinforce its long-term manufacturing presence.
Welcoming the announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the investment would generate substantial employment, spur regional development in Vidarbha and neighbouring areas, and further strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a leading manufacturing hub.
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said the new facility would support the company’s next generation of vehicles and tractors by combining scale, flexibility, and advanced technology within a single integrated footprint. He added that the investment reflects Mahindra’s commitment to the “Make in India for the World” vision and deepens its partnership with the state.
