Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Namo Airport and Namo Hospital and launched 56 development projects worth approximately ₹2,970 crore during his visit to the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu on June 6, 2026.
The projects span multiple sectors, including healthcare, civil aviation, tourism, education, infrastructure, connectivity, and public welfare, reflecting a broad-based development agenda aimed at strengthening the region’s economic and social infrastructure.
A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the Namo Airport, which is expected to significantly enhance regional air connectivity by linking the Union Territory with major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Improved connectivity is anticipated to boost tourism, facilitate business activity, and attract greater investment to the region.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 300-bed Namo Hospital, a major healthcare facility designed to improve access to advanced medical services for residents. The hospital is expected to reduce dependence on healthcare institutions outside the Union Territory by providing specialized treatment and modern healthcare infrastructure closer to home.
The broader portfolio of 56 projects focuses on improving urban infrastructure, strengthening road and transport networks, enhancing public services, and creating opportunities for economic growth and employment generation. These initiatives are expected to contribute to the long-term development and overall quality of life in the region.
During the event, the Prime Minister highlighted Daman’s evolution into a “Mini India,” citing its cultural diversity and growing economic potential. The visit, which featured strong public participation and cultural programmes, marked his eighth visit to the Union Territory over the past decade, underscoring the government’s continued focus on the region’s development.
