Roads in Madhya Pradesh are transforming from mere transportation routes into major catalysts for economic growth and investment, said Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Rakesh Singh, while unveiling six significant expressway and Pragati Path projects.
The initiatives, including the Narmada Pragati Path and Vindhya Expressway, will cover a total of 3,368 km with an investment of ₹36,483 crore over the next three years. Scheduled for completion by June 2028, these projects are expected to reduce travel time, enhance road safety, and drive growth in industrial, agricultural, and tourism sectors. The Minister also highlighted the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects, which include 948 km of new roads worth ₹28,000 crore, aimed at strengthening interstate connectivity and improving logistics.
Strategic corridors such as Gwalior–Nagpur and Indore–Bhopal are set to further accelerate regional economic development. In a pioneering effort, Madhya Pradesh is also collaborating with the NHAI to establish a tiger corridor, integrating infrastructure expansion with wildlife conservation.
