Mumbai’s Mega Marina: A ₹887 Crore Leap for Maritime Tourism

The Centre has approved the development of a world-class marina in Mumbai Harbour, a project aimed at boosting maritime tourism and generating employment opportunities.

The marina will be developed under a hybrid investment model, with the Mumbai Port Authority committing ₹470 crore towards core marine infrastructure, while a private operator will invest ₹417 crore in onshore facilities. The project will have the capacity to berth 424 yachts of up to 30 metres in length and will feature modern infrastructure such as pontoons, service platforms, and gangways.

In addition, the private developer will build a marina terminal, the Namo Bharat International Sailing School, a maritime tourism centre, a hotel, clubhouse, skill development centre, and yacht repair and maintenance facilities.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated that the project will create world-class infrastructure, open up the waterfront for public access, attract private investment, and generate new employment opportunities. The bidding process for the project is scheduled to close on December 29, 2025, marking a key milestone in the expansion of Mumbai’s maritime tourism ecosystem.
