Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects valued at ₹1.93 billion at Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla. The initiatives mark a significant step towards strengthening the port’s infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency.
During the visit, Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman of DPA, briefed the Secretary on the port’s strong operational performance and ongoing initiatives focused on capacity expansion and sustainability.
Key projects inaugurated include land reclamation for a proposed shipyard, coastal road connectivity to National Highway 141, and the construction of Dome-shaped Storage Godown No. 4 to augment storage capacity. In addition, the Secretary laid the foundation stone for several projects such as a chemical pipeline, residential quarters, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including a police community hall.
He also inaugurated electric vehicle loaders and a green methanol facility, underscoring Deendayal Port Authority’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.
