Mahindra Logistics Limited, a prominent leader in integrated logistics solutions in India, has achieved a significant milestone with the inauguration of a 100,000 sq. ft. extension to its existing multi-client warehouse in Nashik. Furthermore, the company has unveiled plans for a new state-of-the-art warehousing facility spanning 300,000 sq. ft., bringing the overall warehousing capacity in Nashik, Maharashtra, to an impressive 500,000 sq. ft. This expansion positions Mahindra Logistics as the provider of the largest warehousing space in Nashik, with the new facility slated to commence operations by the end of Q3 2024.
These cutting-edge facilities will play a pivotal role in enhancing Mahindra Logistics' nationwide network of multi-client warehouses. Presently managing the distribution of auto components for production plants in Nasik, Igatpuri, and Mumbai, the existing warehouse caters to the needs of an Auto OEM customer. The expanded facilities are designed to address inbound logistics and distribution requirements for Automotive, Engineering goods, and Consumer Durables customers. Leveraging technology-enabled and automated processes, the warehouses will offer end-to-end visibility in operations. Conveniently situated with easy access to key industrial and manufacturing clusters, as well as consumption markets in Nashik City, Aurangabad, Satpur, Silvasa, and others, these facilities are poised to optimize logistics operations efficiently.
Aligning with Mahindra Logistics' sustainability standards, the facilities will incorporate eco-friendly measures such as the use of renewable energy, recycled construction materials, efficient liquid discharge management, and compliance with waste management requirements. Equipped with on-site solar power generation capabilities, the facilities can meet all their energy needs and are designed for solar charging for both cargo vehicles and personal mobility. An innovative feature of these facilities is the introduction of green cement flooring in the warehouse, eliminating traditional cement. The investment for establishing these new facilities, totaling Rs. 100 crores, is a collaborative effort with partners, contributing to the creation of employment opportunities for over 300 individuals in the region.
Mr. Rampraveen Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Logistics, emphasized the strategic significance of Nashik, serving as an industrial and consumption cluster. The expansions align with the company's commitment to delivering world-class warehousing infrastructure and sustainable practices, thereby enhancing its portfolio of integrated solutions for clients in the region. The move reflects Mahindra Logistics' strategic approach to establishing larger, world-class facilities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, meeting the evolving needs of businesses in these regions.
