NextGen's Dholera Leap: ₹10,000 Crore Semiconductor Revolution

NextGen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to establish a ₹10,000-crore compound semiconductor fabrication and optoelectronics facility in Dholera.

The project, developed in collaboration with leading semiconductor firms from Japan and Taiwan, includes key technology partners such as Hitachi (Japan) and Solidlite (Taiwan). Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, confirmed this at the Gujarat SemiConnect event in Gandhinagar.

This initiative strengthens Gujarat’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, which has already attracted ₹1.24 lakh crore in investments across four major projects. Notably, Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) and Taiwan’s PSMC are jointly developing India’s first AI-enabled semiconductor fabrication facility with an investment exceeding ₹91,000 crore.
