Odisha Powers Up: Tata Steel Kalinganagar Leaps to 8 MTPA!

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the expanded Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) plant in Jajpur district, marking a significant leap in its crude steel production capacity—from 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 8 MTPA.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the local community, and key leaders from Tata Steel, including CEO & MD T.V. Narendran. This expansion represents a major milestone in Tata Steel’s journey toward building a technologically advanced, sustainable, and inclusive steel manufacturing ecosystem.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the upgraded TSK plant supports the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) by enabling the production of high-grade steel for critical sectors such as defence, automotive, infrastructure, engineering, capital goods, oil & gas, renewable energy, and shipbuilding. As one of India’s most advanced integrated steel facilities, the TSK plant is poised to strengthen the nation's global competitiveness and self-sufficiency in steel production.
