Odisha’s Infrastructure Milestone: ₹6,701 Crore, One Vision

In a major push to modernise Odisha’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth ₹6,701 crore in Bhubaneswar on January 12, 2026.

The flagship projects include the construction of a new Lok Seva Bhavan and Odisha Legislative Assembly building, to be developed at a combined cost of ₹3,623 crore. Spread across 71.13 acres, the new complex will feature a state-of-the-art assembly hall with seating for 300 members, with provisions for future expansion following delimitation. Emphasising the long-term vision, CM Majhi stated, “We have to construct a new assembly building keeping in view the needs of the next 50 to 100 years.” The campus will also include underground parking facilities to optimise space utilisation.

In addition, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for an elevated corridor from Jaydev Vihar to Nandankanan, estimated to cost ₹952 crore. The project will include multiple flyovers and a four-lane cable-stayed bridge to ease traffic congestion. As part of the sustainability measures, 22,410 trees will be planted along the corridor.

These initiatives underscore the state government’s commitment to long-term urban development, improved connectivity, and environmentally sustainable infrastructure.
