OP Mobility Bets Big on India: $300M, 5 New Plants

French auto components manufacturer OP Mobility SE (formerly Plastic Omnium) is set to invest USD 200–300 million in India over the next five years—its largest commitment in the country to date.

Motivated by a recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the company plans to double its manufacturing footprint, expanding from five to ten production facilities, and establish its largest technology centre in Asia in Pune. New plants are planned in Chennai, Manesar, Aurangabad, Hansalpur, and Kharkhoda.

Currently generating USD 250 million in annual revenue from its Indian operations, OP Mobility aims to double its business while increasing content per vehicle through advanced and sustainable automotive solutions. The company also plans to introduce hydrogen energy and battery storage systems as part of its broader clean mobility strategy.

With key clients including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Mahindra, India is poised to become a critical R&D and export hub within OP Mobility’s global operations. Present in 28 countries, the group earns 95% of its revenue outside France, highlighting India’s growing importance in its international growth roadmap.
