The district administration has initiated the land acquisition process for the PMRDA Ring Road project to ease traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
As an incentive, Collector Jitendra Dudi announced a 25% bonus for landowners who voluntarily surrender their land under the Land Acquisition Act. A joint survey in March-April will assess eligible beneficiaries.
“If land is voluntarily provided, owners will receive two-and-a-half times the total compensation as per the act. This will accelerate the ring road’s development while ensuring fair compensation,” he stated.
The 77.4-km, 65-meter-wide ring road requires approximately 743.41 hectares, including government, forest, defense, PMC-transferred, and private land. Officials aim to complete land acquisition for the first and second phases by May, benefiting from the fact that much of the land is already designated as non-agricultural.
The project is a collaboration between PMRDA and MSRDC to enhance regional transportation. The Pune Collector led a meeting attended by key officials, including land acquisition officer Kalyan Pandhare and PMRDA Superintendent Engineer Ashok Bhalkar.
