Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Patna Metro's First Phase

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Bihar again in the third or fourth week of September to inaugurate the first operational stretch of the Patna Metro Rail, marking his seventh visit to the state in this election year. His last trip was on August 22, when he launched development projects worth ₹13,000 crore.

The inauguration will mark the opening of Phase I of the 14.45 km-long Priority Corridor II (Blue Line), which features a 6.49 km elevated section with five key stations: Malahi Pakri, Khemnichak, Bhoothnath, Zero Mile, and New ISBT.

The project is nearing completion, with three metro coaches—manufactured in Pune—already delivered to Patna last month. Trial runs are scheduled to begin in the first week of September, and construction at three of the five stations is expected to be completed by mid-September.

The inauguration was originally slated for August 15 but was postponed to allow time for final construction and system readiness. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently reviewed the progress, inspecting the metro depot at Bairiya and the under-construction Zero Mile station. He has directed officials to expedite remaining work to ensure timely commissioning.
