Electrification in the automotive sector is gathering pace, particularly across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and buses, with the small commercial vehicle segment also witnessing early adoption.
While traditional OEMs have been relatively slow to enter the electric mobility space, new-age manufacturers such as IPL Tech Electric and Coimbatore-based Propel Industries are making notable progress. Propel Industries, part of the 30-year-old AV Group, initially focused on electric heavy-duty mining trucks and is now broadening its product portfolio.
Renowned for its expertise in crushing, screening, and washing solutions for the mining industry, the company entered the electric mobility segment two years ago with 45-tonne and 60-tonne electric mining trucks. Since then, it has expanded its lineup to include 70-tonne and 90-tonne models, along with electric tractor-trailers. According to a company spokesperson, Propel is leveraging its deep mining-sector experience to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
