REC Establishes New Subsidiary for Rajasthan Power Transmission Project

REC has officially incorporated 'Rajasthan IV 4B Power Transmission' as a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Power Development & Consultancy (RECPDCL), furthering its involvement in the power transmission sector. This new entity is dedicated to overseeing the transmission system for the Rajasthan REZ Phase-IV (Part-4: 3.5 GW), specifically Part B of the project.

The company has been established with an authorized and paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh, following a directive from the Ministry of Power. This directive, issued via a gazette notification dated June 14, 2024, assigned RECPDCL the role of bid process coordinator (BPC) for the transmission system project.

The primary function of 'Rajasthan IV 4B Power Transmission' will be to facilitate the evacuation of power generated from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone. The company is responsible for the entire bid process, from coordinating the selection of bidders to the eventual transfer of assets and liabilities to the successful bidder.

The formation of this subsidiary is a strategic move to streamline the development and operational management of the transmission infrastructure. Once the successful bidder is selected in accordance with TBCB (Tariff Based Competitive Bidding) guidelines, the new entity will transfer all associated assets and responsibilities.

This development underscores REC's commitment to expanding and modernizing India's power transmission infrastructure, crucial for supporting the country's growing energy needs and renewable energy targets.
