Reliance Industries plans to set up CBG plant in india

Reliance Industries (RIL) is currently engaged in discussions with sugar mill operators to secure a consistent supply of sugarcane press mud—a crucial feedstock for the production of compressed biogas (CBG). The company is actively reaching out to various sugar mills located across the country to establish a daily supply chain of press mud for its CBG plants.

Should RIL decide to proceed with the establishment of CBG plants with an average capacity of 10 million tons per annum (tpa), it would necessitate a daily supply of 250,000 tonnes of press mud. The cost of press mud varies between Rs 200 and Rs 500 per tonne, depending on factors such as the location of the sugar mill and the quality of the press mud.

In a strategic move announced in September of the current year, RIL unveiled plans to set up 100 CBG plants over the next five years. These plants are anticipated to consume 5.5 million tonnes of agricultural residue and organic waste. Notably, RIL is already operating a CBG plant in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.

This initiative reflects RIL's commitment to sustainable practices and aligns with the global trend of companies actively exploring eco-friendly alternatives, particularly in the energy sector. The production of biogas, specifically compressed biogas, serves as a pivotal step towards reducing reliance on conventional fossil fuels and promoting environmentally responsible energy solutions.
