The Tamil Nadu government has commenced preparatory works to strengthen road connectivity to the proposed greenfield airport at Parandur.
To ensure seamless access between the upcoming aviation hub and Chennai as well as nearby industrial clusters, the State has identified two major road corridors.
The first corridor involves widening the Pallur–Sogandi Road over a stretch of 23.8 km, including a 9.2-km realigned segment skirting the airport boundary. The project also предусматривает development of service roads and widening of portions of State Highway 58 to streamline traffic movement and improve safety.
The second corridor is a new greenfield link connecting the Oragadam–Cheyyar Industrial Corridor to Parandur via State Highway 58. It will feature a four-lane carriageway along with grade-separated ramps at key junctions to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for both corridors are expected to be prepared shortly. The State’s industries department will fund the DPR preparation and land acquisition process. The proposed road upgrades are aimed at providing efficient airport access while supporting industrial expansion in the surrounding regions.
