RRTS Update: Jangpura-Sarai Kale Khan Plan Gets DDA Nod

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved the Influent Zone Plan for the Jangpura–Sarai Kale Khan stretch, marking a crucial milestone in the final phase of preparations for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

Developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the plan outlines land use and development guidelines around key infrastructure nodes to promote orderly urban growth and reduce environmental and social impacts. Speaking at the Namo Bharat Diwas event, NCRTC Managing Director Shalab Goel emphasized the Corporation’s ambition to expand its annual commuter base from 4 crore to 8.4 crore. The event also saw the participation of Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokan Sahu and MoHUA Secretary Srinivas Katikithala.

Namo Bharat, formerly known as RapidX, is NCRTC’s flagship regional rapid rail initiative. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor currently has 55 km operational across 11 stations, with the remaining sections approaching completion. Efforts are also underway to enhance power procurement to support full-scale operations across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
