The Karnataka Cabinet has approved a series of major infrastructure, urban development and irrigation projects aimed at strengthening essential services and boosting regional development across the state.
Among the key decisions is the approval of a large-scale construction and demolition (C&D) waste management project within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits. To be implemented under a public–private partnership model, the facility will process 2,250 tonnes of waste per day over a 15-year period at an estimated cost of ₹1,714.83 crore, significantly enhancing scientific waste management in Bengaluru.
In the urban water sector, the Cabinet granted administrative approval for the replacement of horizontal split case pumps under Phase X of the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme at TK Halli, Harohalli and Tataguni, at a cost of ₹49.30 crore. The project will be executed by the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board. It also approved the five-year operation and maintenance of the 550 MLD water treatment plant at TK Halli under Phase IV, with an estimated outlay of ₹38.33 crore.
On the irrigation front, the Cabinet cleared a ₹210 crore lift irrigation project to supply Krishna River water to Raibag and Chikkodi taluks. It also sanctioned revised estimates of ₹1,503 crore for the Kerur Lift Irrigation Project in Bagalkote district, along with approval for the ₹198.90 crore Shri Karesiddeshwara Lift Irrigation Project. Additional approvals include a ₹990 crore canal-based irrigation project in Raichur district and a ₹272 crore scheme to fill 19 tanks in Yelburga and Kukunur taluks.
