On 4 February 2026, the Kerala Cabinet approved the acquisition of 60 acres of land adjacent to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) for setting up the Aerospace Control Systems Centre under the Kerala SpacePark (KSpace) initiative.
An allocation of ₹600 crore has been approved for the land acquisition through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), in accordance with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act. The Cabinet has also directed that KSpace be designated as the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the acquisition, with the Chief Executive Officer of KSpace acting as the requisitioning authority.
KSpace is a Kerala government-led initiative focused on promoting industrial development in the space, aviation, and defence sectors. The establishment of the Aerospace Control Systems Centre is expected to strengthen the state’s space and advanced technology capabilities, support industrial growth, and generate significant employment opportunities, positioning Kerala as a key hub for high-technology industries.
