Sterling & Wilson Bags Landmark Rs 328 Crore Solar and Battery

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy (SWREL) has secured a significant order worth Rs 328 crore for the procurement, erection, testing, and commissioning of a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Rajasthan. The 1,000 MWhr BESS plant, to be completed by 2025, is the largest in India and one of the biggest stationary GWhr projects globally.

In addition to the BESS project, SWREL has also been awarded a 20 MW floating solar project in Karnataka by the same client. This is the third floating solar project undertaken by the company in India, further solidifying its expertise and presence in the renewable energy sector.

The projects align with the Central Electricity Authority's National Electricity Plan (NEP) 2023, which anticipates an energy storage capacity requirement of 82.37 GWh by 2026-27. This includes 47.65 GWh from pumped storage projects (PSP) and 34.72 GWh from BESS.

These orders place SWREL at the forefront of India’s rapidly growing BESS market, enhancing its reputation as a leader in renewable energy solutions. The successful execution of these projects will significantly contribute to the country's energy storage capabilities and renewable energy goals.
