Traffic congestion near New Town’s Technopolis is expected to ease significantly following the reopening of a key 11m x 130m road stretch, which had been closed since July 2024 for metro construction. The road is now open to airport-bound vehicles, restoring a vital direct route through the area.
The reopening follows the completion of major civil works for the elevated Nabadiganta metro station on the Orange Line, part of the 32-km New Garia–Airport corridor being developed by RVNL (Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd). With the concourse slab, platforms, and roofing completed, track laying is underway, except for a 60m northern section awaiting a traffic block at the Sector V–Biswa Bangla Sarani crossing.
Traffic diversions remain in place for Salt Lake-bound vehicles, as construction continues on the station’s commercial zone on the western side. This phase is expected to take an additional five to six months.
