Tripunithura-Poothotta Road Widening: Land Acquisition Begins

Progress has been made on the four-laning of the road connecting SN Junction in Tripunithura to Poothotta in Kochi, Kerala, with the land acquisition process now officially in motion. The Ernakulam district collectorate has requested the issuance of the 11(1) notification, a key step that will enable land surveys and property valuations to proceed.

MLA K Babu confirmed the request, stating that land and building surveys will begin promptly after the notification is issued, paving the way for compensation distribution. The project, backed by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), originally planned for 12.34 hectares of land acquisition—now revised to 13.2 hectares to align with the updated road design.

Divided into two phases, the initiative aims to ease congestion and improve traffic flow along this vital suburban corridor. This milestone marks renewed momentum for the long-delayed project, which had previously faced administrative hurdles.
