The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has allocated 100 acres in Sector-11, near Noida International Airport, for the construction of an Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical college and hospital. This initiative aligns with ESIC’s nationwide expansion plan and follows its 194th meeting in October 2024, where in-principle approval was granted for 10 new medical colleges, including one in Noida.
The selected site is strategically located in the National Capital Region (NCR), which has over 5.65 million insured persons (IPs), representing 15-16% of ESIC’s total beneficiaries. Gautam Budh Nagar alone accounts for 1.586 million IPs, followed by Delhi (1.492 million), Gurugram (1.479 million), and Faridabad (1.093 million).
This initiative supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2024 Independence Day announcement to create 75,000 new medical seats over five years. ESIC is expanding medical education through its network of 165 hospitals, 1,574 dispensaries, and affiliated healthcare facilities, serving 144.3 million beneficiaries nationwide.
