The Union Cabinet has approved the GOBARdhan – National Circular Bioenergy Scheme with an outlay of Rs 23,731 crore for FY27 to FY36. Administered by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the initiative integrates major programs like SATAT and MDA to scale up compressed biogas (CBG) production nearly ten-fold. By converting agricultural waste, cattle dung, and biomass into clean fuel and organic manure, the scheme aims to establish CBG as a cornerstone of India's green energy mix.
