Bihar’s ₹16,500 Cr Vision: The Future of Manufacturing Begins in Gaya

On 24 October 2026, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (alongside Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary) launched the official logo and web portal for a 1,670-acre Integrated Manufacturing City (IMC) in the Dobhi block of Gaya (Gayaji) district. Developed under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), the major project is projected to attract investments worth ₹16,500 crore and create nearly 1.1 lakh jobs for local youth.

The initiative aligns with Bihar's strategy to expand industrial infrastructure and invite both domestic and international investors. As part of a broader push, the state aims to acquire around 13,500 acres for industrial use by January 2027, focusing on core sectors such as steel, textiles, food processing, electronics, electric vehicles, and biofuels. During the launch, the state government signed MoUs with 12 industrial units representing ₹4,092 crore in proposed investments across energy, textiles, automotive, biotechnology, and agro-industries. Future development plans also include an integrated township and a Magadh Cultural Heritage Centre to boost local tourism and economy.
