Satrac Goes Big: A ₹250 Crore Leap into Sriperumbudur

Satrac Engineering Pvt Ltd, the Bengaluru-based trailer and truck body manufacturer, has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Sriperumbudur near Chennai.

Backed by Japanese partner Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo Co, the company has invested ₹250 crore in the new plant and plans to infuse an additional ₹70–80 crore over the next two years, according to Managing Director MC Bantwal.

The facility is the largest trailer and truck body manufacturing plant in South Asia, with an initial production capacity of over 800 units per month. This capacity is projected to increase to 1,000 units within the next 24 months.

With this expansion, Satrac now operates two facilities in Bengaluru and Chennai, achieving a combined peak production capacity of more than 1,500 units per month. Bantwal also noted that the project experienced nearly three years of delays due to internal approval processes and disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
