BMC Seeks ₹10,000 Crore Central Fund for Mumbai Infra

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has sought more than ₹10,000 crore from the Central government to support major urban infrastructure projects in Mumbai.

Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide said the proposed funding would be used for projects related to sewage treatment, drinking water infrastructure and flood mitigation measures across the city. Planned flood-control works include the development of pumping stations at Mahul and along the Mogra Nullah.

A portion of the proposed allocation, estimated at ₹1,500 crore to ₹2,000 crore, has also been earmarked for the rejuvenation and pollution mitigation of the Mithi River.
