Bridging the Gap: Maharashtra Gets Its First Bullet Train Steel Bridge

The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) has reached a major engineering milestone with the installation of its first steel bridge in Maharashtra for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.

Spanning 100 meters and weighing approximately 1,405 tonnes, the massive structure was successfully positioned over National Highway 3 in Bhiwandi, Thane district. This installation is part of a larger plan featuring 28 steel bridges along the corridor—16 of which are already completed—designed to seamlessly cross major highways, expressways, and rivers. Built under stringent quality controls, including precision cutting, rigorous welding, specialized painting, and batch ultrasonic testing, this milestone underscores the rapid and steady physical progress of India’s premier high-speed rail corridor.
