Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will set up data centres at five locations across India, including Guwahati. This initiative is expected to create local employment opportunities and help curb the outmigration of skilled youth from the region.
In a significant step toward technological self-reliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated India’s first indigenous 4G network, making the country the fifth in the world to develop its own mobile communication technology. As part of the rollout, 92,633 new mobile towers equipped with fully Made-in-India components have been installed, advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. BSNL’s network is slated for a 5G upgrade, with the launch of 6G expected by 2030.
Meanwhile, Assam is rapidly emerging as a semiconductor manufacturing hub, with the Tata Group establishing a chip fabrication facility in Jagiroad. These transformative projects position Assam as a rising technology and innovation centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
