The Public Works Department’s (PWD) proposed 16-kilometre elevated road along the Munak Canal corridor remains stalled, as the Haryana government has yet to grant the required no-objection certificate (NOC), according to an official source on Thursday.
The matter was recently discussed in a meeting between officials from both governments, with the PWD indicating that technical aspects of the project are still being finalised. “We are actively pursuing the issue with Haryana government authorities, and further technical details are being worked out,” the source said.
Announced last year, the elevated corridor is aimed at easing traffic congestion in Outer Delhi. The proposed alignment passes over stretches of the Munak Canal, which falls under Haryana’s jurisdiction.
PWD officials have already submitted a detailed project report to the Haryana government. However, concerns have been raised regarding potential disruptions to canal operations, particularly desilting work that requires the movement of heavy machinery.
The project will remain on hold until these issues are resolved and the NOC is issued, delaying the anticipated traffic relief for the region.
