Carraro India’s Next Gear: 4WD, EVs, and Global Exports

Carraro India has outlined its next phase of growth with plans to expand axle production capacity, strengthen manufacturing infrastructure, and increase its focus on premium four-wheel-drive (4WD) tractors, construction equipment exports, and electric driveline technologies.

Headquartered in Pune, the company aims to capitalise on the ongoing transformation of India’s tractor industry, where demand is increasingly shifting toward larger, technologically advanced 4WD tractors that require higher-value transmission and driveline systems. According to the company’s investor presentation, the Indian 4WD tractor segment is projected to grow at a CAGR of 23 percent through 2029, significantly outpacing the conventional 2WD tractor market, which is expected to expand at a CAGR of 2.8 percent.

Carraro noted that the narrowing price differential between 2WD and 4WD tractors following GST implementation has accelerated the transition toward premium agricultural machinery during FY26. The company expects this trend to create long-term opportunities for advanced driveline and transmission solutions.

To support its expansion strategy, Carraro plans to rely primarily on internal accruals and operational efficiency improvements. Operating cash flow nearly doubled to ₹155.8 crore in FY26, while the company also reported a significant improvement in its debt-equity ratio, reflecting stronger financial stability and enhanced operating leverage.
