The Maharashtra Water Resources Department (WRD) has issued a bid invitation for the monetisation of water assets and the development of a floating solar power project on the Ujjani Dam Reservoir.
Under this initiative, a selected bidder will be granted the opportunity to develop a floating solar plant on 15% of the reservoir’s available water surface through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Ujjani Dam, located in Bhimanagar, Madha taluka, Solapur district, offers a total water surface area of 3,000 hectares at maximum drawdown level (MDDL) for the project.
The successful bidder will be responsible for constructing the floating solar panels, an EHV pooling substation, and all associated evacuation infrastructure to connect the plant to the nearest EHV substation of MSETCL/STU. Upon project completion, the evacuation infrastructure from the delivery point to the EHV substation will be handed over to the state transmission utility.
The deadline for bid submission is 9 January 2026.
